National Media Group holding, controlled by the shareholders of the  bank "Russia," headed by businessman Yuri Kovalchuk, became the sole  owner of television channel REN TV, increasing its stake in the company to almost 100%. The holding signed an agreement with the European media conglomerates RTL Group to exchange European concern owned 30% stake in REN TV on 7,5% stake in National Media Group (NMG).

Russia is to introduce an age classification of films.

According to RIA Novosti, earlier recommendations for age restrictions were introduced into the Mill's License (rating system), but they did not have a binding nature. The announced bill will make the procedure mandatory. As expected, the Ministry of Culture will be in charge of the classification by age for the films.

In addition, the Ministry of Culture is supposed to have the right to refuse to grant a Mill Certificate in cases where the film will promote terrorism, extremism, cruelty, violence or drug use.

Discovery Networks is in talks with two Ukrainian production companies regarding the acquisition of a locally produced TV show.

"...Beginning next year, we plan to focus more on local content that is relevant for the Ukrainian viewers, " said Mr. Paul Welling,VP, Head of Channels Central Eastern Europe, Middle East & Africa.He refused to mention the name of the production studio and projects as well, noting that the company is considering purchasing the show for the Russian and Polish versions.
