Olonkho TV, a new thematic channel was launched in the city of Yakutsk. Entirely dedicated to the Yakuts' Olonkho epic traditions, it will broadcast on cable operator networks 16 hours a day and will show  the recordings of folk storytellers, television dramas, as well as versions and reports from the past.

Project manager Sergey Vasilyev stated "the broadcast television channel Olonkho will be on cable networks of the Republican capital, at first, the dedicated channel will be broadcasting 16 hours a day. In the beginning it will concentrate on the folk storytellers recordings, television dramas and special events coverage."

Olonkho TV will develop its own production enabling a cutting age equipment that will work in HD and 3D. However, as the publication "Il Tumen" notes, due to a lack of development of local cable networks these technical advantages will not be available yet for most viewers. Nevertheless, the sponsors hope that with the development of modern infrastructure the channel will become available in all the far eastern regions of Russia.
