RUSSIA/UKRAINE: New Jewish channel to be launched in June

The "JewishNewsOne" TV channel will start to broadcast at the end of June in a test mode.

The National Council on Television and Radio, at the meeting on May 24, issued a license to broadcast satellite TV "JewishNewsOne" - an information channel for and about the Jewish community.


According to the Head of Legal Department, Maria Shvets, JewishNewsOne will begin test broadcasting 15-20 June. The company of Vadim Rabinovitch plans to get two licenses: the territory of Ukraine and other countries within range of reliable reception of the satellite Astra 4A (broadcast in Ukrainian language) and foreign broadcasts.

The Ukrainian version of JewishNewsOne will broadcast around the clock, 75% - in Ukrainian, 25% - in English with translation into Ukrainian in the running line. The TV channel will have offices in Kiev (31 employees), Brussels (8 employees) and Tel Aviv (8 employees). It will broadcast the news and in-house programs, including social topics on the life of the Jewish community.
